- ASEAN-Korea Centre to hold the ‘ASEAN Furniture Fair’ during

the 2019 Korea International Furniture & Interior Fair (29 Aug-1 Sept, KINTEX, Ilsan)


Gyeonggi, Korea – The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Lee Hyuk) will organize the ‘ASEAN Furniture Fair,’ in conjunction with the ‘2019 Korea International Furniture & Interior Fair,’ from 29 August to 1 September, under the theme of ‘Experience ASEAN Lifestyle’ at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province


This Fair will present 84 companies from eight ASEAN member states, including Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, to introduce ASEAN lifestyle by showcasing diverse designer furniture, eco-friendly furniture and unique interior products reflecting the diverse characteristics of each country’s culture.


Specifically, Indonesia will be showcasing handcrafted wooden furniture and interior accessories made of teak. Lao PDR will present handmade interior items such as baskets, drawers and fabrics. Malaysia is expected to bring modern, sophisticated furniture made of high-quality hardwood such as oak and walnut. Myanmar will be exhibiting various handmade furniture and interior products such as chairs and trays made of natural rattan and bamboo. The Philippines is preparing to show handcrafted carpets made from natural Abaca fibers and furniture made from eco-friendly wood materials such as mahogany and ash. Singapore will display multi-functional leather sofas, and furniture and interior products using innovative technology. Thailand will be providing furniture made out of water hyacinth and bamboo that are both comfortable and eco-friendly as well as those designed specially to match the preferences of Korean consumers. Finally, Viet Nam, as the largest exporting country of wooden furniture in Southeast Asia, will showcase modern designer hardwood furniture with unique accents and details.


Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, said, “ASEAN furniture excels in its use of natural materials, exquisite craftsmanship, unique design and reasonable price. I hope this year’s ASEAN Furniture Fair will serve as an opportunity for both Korean consumers to experience the charm of ASEAN furniture and ASEAN companies to make headway into the Korean market.”
